Announcement of ID3 2011-2012 Fellows

The ID3Fellows Program was formed to support and engage those creative individuals whose research interests are inherently interdisciplinary, action oriented and driven by deeply held personal convictions about addressing substantive social and scientific issues not necessarily favored by conventional funding and credentialing bodies, Each recipient has distinguished themselves not only by the high caliber of their work and skills but by a willingness to take personal and career risks in the pursuit of their goals.

2011-2012 Recipients

Shenja van der GraafShenja Van der Graaf combines an interest in new media, open innovation with an interest in “smart cities” and platform economics.
Robb FitzsimmonsRobb Fitzsimmons brings a background in history of science and computer science to understanding fundamental algorithms around social discovery, preferences and social networks.
Tim HwangTim Hwang is the founder of ROFL CON, the Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences, and the Web Ecology Project. He is interested in building a science around measuring the system-wide flows of content and patterns of community formation online.
Vaughn TanVaughn Tan is completing a Ph.D. at Harvard in Sociology and Business and brings a background in design of prize incentives at Google with an interest in self-organizing expert networks.

Hugo Van VuurenHugo Van Vuuren combines an active involvement in the arts, computer sciences, urban design, development, and entrepreneurship with a commitment to develop new ways for individuals to discover common interests and form enterprises to address fundamental institutional and social issues.

Wei PanWei Pan works on measuring, understanding and predicting communities and societies as the collective behaviors of individuals by using modern sensing and modeling techniques.
Yves-Alexandre de MontjoyeYves-Alexandre de Montjoye develops stochastic tools to harness the power of rich behavioral datasets, such as human movement data and communication patterns in networks.
Nadav AharonyNadav Aharony revolves his research around the intersection between communication networks, social dynamics, and systems that learn.
