Henrik Sandell has 20 years of executive experience, in combination with roles as an advanced technology architect and “Big 4” management consultant, and is currently a consulting partner at The Boston Associates. He has broad executive experience, with a history of gaining competitive advantage over larger and better capitalized competitors, enhancing performance through partnerships and outsourcing, re-design of processes and policies, and smart use of existing and new technologies.
Henrik is a rigorous and analytic thinker with broad operational experience, who understands how to pragmatically apply leading edge technologies to implement innovative business models. He has worked with organizations in the financial services, media, education, health care, retail, ecommerce, manufacturing, and transportation industries.
Henrik was COO of As Seen on TV, Inc., a consumer marketing business. Previously, he held positions at ID3, a non-profit institute with roots in Harvard and MIT, and at the MIT Media Lab, where he conducted research on privacy-protecting trust frameworks. Henrik has held senior positions with Liberty Medical/Polymedica (acquired by Medco Health Solutions for $1.5B), Acadient (an online education company), and Fidelity Investment’s Insurance.com (a venture funded by Fidelity Capital). He co-founded Context Media, a knowledge management and online publishing venture. He has also held positions with Coopers & Lybrand Consulting (now IBM Global Services), Lotus Development Corporation, and GTE Laboratories.
At ID3, his work included work on a rule of law engine integrated with trust framework personal data access control. He directed early stage architecture development of Open Mustard Seed and OpenPDS, open source platforms enabling secure, transparent, and accountable sharing of personal data within the legally constituted trust framework. At Liberty Medical, he had primary responsibility for Liberty’s $65M advertising budget as well as marketing operations, systems, data, and analytics processes. Henrik holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University as a Fulbright grantee, and a M.Sc. from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
